Udinese last beat Roma at the Stadio Olimpico way back in September 2005.  Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari, who now plays for Internazionale, struck the only goal of the game that day in the 32^nd minute. Since then, the two sides have met five times at the Olimpico, with Roma emerging triumphant on four occasions and one game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Udinese bounced back from their midweek loss to Catania as they thrashed Lecce 4-0 last weekend. Antonio di Natale ran riot in the first half as his hat trick propelled the Bianconeri to a 3-0 lead at half time.

Natale scored in the 11^th, 24^th and the 40^th minute to leave the visiting Lecce fans stunned. Alexis Sanchez assisted Di Natale for his first two goals while the assist from the third came from Antonio Floro Flores. Floro Flores himself added a fourth for his side on 55 minutes. Udinese also ended up with a clean sheet as keeper Samir Handanovic saved David di Michele’s penalty late in the game.

Only two points separate Udinese from Roma, who drew 1-1 against Juventus in their last game. Roma skipper Francesco Totti scored his side’s only goal of the game from the spot in first half stoppage time after Fabio Quaglirella had put Juve ahead.
