Siena finished fourteenth in the league last season with 44 points, 30 behind Milan, who finished third with 74. They had the second worst goal scoring record in Serie A in 2008-09 with 32 goals. Only relegated Reggina, who had 30 to their name, scored fewer goals than the Bianconeri.

Siena boss Marco Giampaolo is likely to start with a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Massimo Maccarone partnering Michele Paolucci upfront. Skipper Simone Vergassola will start in midfield alongside Paul Codrea and Gael Genevier, with Michele Fini starting behind the two strikers. Gianluca Curci should retain his spot between the sticks.

AC Milan have made four new signings this summer- goalkeeper Flavio Roma, defenders Thiago Silva and Oguchi Onyewu and striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar. However superstar Kaka, easily their best player last season, has departed for Real Madrid. In the absence of Kaka, Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho will have to shoulder greater responsibility.

Fans of the Rossoneri will also be hoping that young Alexandre Pato and Klaas Jan Huntelaar will combine well upfront. However Huntelaar is suspended for this game, and his spot should go to the evergreen Filippo Inzaghi, who has a wonderful scoring record against Siena. Inzaghi scored his 300^th league goal last season against the Robur. Daniele De Bonera and Clarence Seedorf are injury doubts for this game.

Siena dominated Catania last week in the Serie A and goals from Massimo Maccarone, Abdelkader Ghezzal and Lukas Jarolim saw them cruise to a 3-0 victory. The Bianconeri had 18 shots in comparison to Catania’s six, and made excellent use of the ball.

Siena’s home form has been quite good. They have lost only twice in thirteen games this season- against Lecce and league leaders Inter. When Siena travelled to the San Siro last year, they lost 2-1 to Milan, with Inzaghi and Kaka scoring on either side of a Simone Vergassola strike.

A.C.Milan beat Atalanta 3-0 to bounce back from their loss to Sampdoria the week before. The victory took a bit of pressure off the shoulders of under fire boss Carlo Ancelotti. Veteran striker Fillippo Inzaghi bagged a hat trick as Milan won their 11^th home game of the season. Zambrotta, Jankulovski and Pato were the creators of the three Milan goals.

Star players Kaka and Ronaldinho are not expected to recover from their respective injuries prior to this game. Midfielder David Beckham is also a doubt having sustained an ankle injury in training, but is expected to be fit in time to take the field for the Rossoneri.
