Siena are currently second from bottom in the league with five points from eight games. Three of those five points came in August 2009 when they beat Cagliari away from home. Since then, the Robur have lost four games and had two goalless stalemates.

Siena’s last game saw them lose 1-0 away from home to Parma. Valeri Bojinov put Parma ahead in the sixth minute of the game, and any hopes Siena might have had of staging a comeback were crushed when Michele Fini received his marching orders in the 34th minute. Fini will serve the first of his three match ban this weekend. Algerian forward Abdelkader Ghezzal will also have to watch this match from the sidelines as he too is suspended.

Juventus tried out a new 4-3-2-1 formation in their midweek Champions League game against Maccabi Haifa. Defender Giorgio Chiellini scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute, heading in Diego’s free kick at the near post. Coach Ciro Ferrara was not too happy with the performance of his players, and admitted that his side gave Maccabi too much space to operate in.

Juventus have picked up just three points in their last four league games, and trail Internazionale by four points. The Bianconeri had a fantastic start to the season, but they need to get back to winning ways immediately if they are to keep pace with Jose Mourinho’s men.

Juventus sacked Claudio Ranieri after only being able to draw with Atalanta last week. Juve have not won in all competitions in their last seven fixtures, and are in danger of losing their third place spot in the league to Fiorentina, who are breathing down their necks.

Luca Cigarini gave Atalanta a shock lead in the 2nd minute before strikes from Vincenzo Iaquinta and Cristiano Zanetti put Juventus 2-1 ahead. However substitute Maximiliano Pellegrino scored within seconds after coming off the bench as Atalanta came out of the San Siro with a point. Defender Zdenek Grygera has been ruled out of this match after picking up a thigh injury in training. Alessandro Del Piero is also expected to miss the game after being hacked down by Tiago in training.

Siena, who were beaten 3-0 by Inter last week, face another tough opponent in the form of Juve in this round. However they have already cemented their place in next season’s Serie A, which is why they can afford to take things a bit easy in their remaining games.

Siena did have their chances against Inter, but could not convert them. Simone Vergassola and Abdelkader Ghezzal had the best ones, but were unable to beat Julio Cesar. Siena are currently in 14th position with 43 points from 36 games.
