Austria are third in Group 7 with eleven points, four behind second place France. Coach Dietmar Constantini will have to do without several injured key players. Defenders Emanuel Pogatetz, Martin Stranzl and Sebastian Proedl and striker Marko Arnautovic are the big name absentees. Constantini has also chosen to overlook former captain Andreas Ivanschitz.

A lot will depend on Marc Janko, who found the back of the net four times in Red Bull Salzburg’s 7-1 win over Austria Karnten last week. Janko is currently the joint top scorer in Group 7 along with Lithuanian skipper Tomas Danilevicius.

It is a must win game for Lithuania too. They have not been eliminated yet, but failure to beat Austria this weekend will end their slim chances of making it to South Africa next year. Lithuania were shocked by Faroe Islands in their previous qualifier, giving the whipping boys of Group 7 their first win in qualifying.
