Bahrain takes on Uzbekistan in the National Stadium in Thailand, on June 17th. These two teams are ranked 3rd and 5th respectively in Asia's group one standings. Bahrain has 7 points while Uzbekistan has 4. It has been a long haul, with nearly 20 months passed since the beginning matches, and now it comes down to 12 games to see who the top ten teams will be that are qualifying. Australia and Japan have already qualified in Group One, which means that they will take the two spots for the finals, leaving everyone else behind.

The last game that Bahrain played was against Australia, and they lost 2-0, securing Australia's place at the top. Bahrain had the ball in the net once, as the second half commenced, kicked in by Absulla Marzooq, but it was ruled off-sides. If the goal had been good, it would have been a first time for Australia conceding a goal in their past seven games. Then, the Socceroos tried to make a third goal in the 75th minute, but were unable to do. Australia holds onto the top spot, and now will face off against Japan, the other team in the top two on Asia's group one leaderboard, on the same day that Bahrain will face off against Uzbekistan, Wednesday, June 17th.

As for Uzbekistan's last game, they played Japan and while ranking last on the Group One board, they were able to hold off Japan from scoring, only allowing one goal to pass by. The game ended with Japan 1-0. This is what manager Takeshi Okada has been working for since 2007, when he took over the spot from Ivica Osim after the man from Bosnia suffered a stroke. The goal was made by striker, Shinji Okazaki nine minutes into the game, but Japan was unable to take any more balls to the net. However, they did defend against a multitude of attacks from Uzbekistan.
