FYR Macedonia and Iceland will meet up this Wednesday for another qualification match as the tournaments that will decide who gets to compete in South Africa next year continue. There were fourteen games played this weekend in the European Zone, with seven groups participating and two of those games included FYR Macedonia and Iceland. Iceland played The Netherlands on Friday, June 5^th, while FYR Macedonia battled it out with Norway on Saturday, the 6^th. Even with the exhaustion of a game just days prior, don't think this game will be a walk in the park. Look for both of these teams to compete fiercely on Wednesday.

Iceland and The Netherlands played in Laugardalsvollur, Reykjavik. The major attention was on the Netherlands, who had a 5 for 5 record for games in group five, and everyone knew that if the Netherlands beat Iceland they would become Europe's first team to qualify for the finals. The results are in and the Netherlands beat Iceland with a final of 2-1, giving them a seat in the finals next year. Iceland is currently sitting on four points stemming from only one win out of six games. One of those games was a draw and the other four were losses for Iceland. 

As for FYR Macedonia they are sitting much better in the standings. The team just finished up with Norway on Saturday in Skopje. Both teams are competing with Scotland for the second spot in the group nine standings, who currently has ten points. The game with Norway was a long and exhausting one, with Norway making a goal 24 minutes in courtesy of Christian Grindheim while Morten Gamst Pedersen's free kick made a slow tip around the goalpost, ending the game with a draw. FYR Macedonia is tied with Iceland for points – both having four – and their record so far has included a win, three losses and a draw.
