Uruguay’s fairytale run at the 2010 World Cup came to an end as they lost 3-2 in the semifinals to Bert van Marwijk’s determined Dutch outfit. Ajax skipper Luis Suarez will return to take his place in attack after serving a one game suspension. So will defender Jorge Fucile, while captain Diego Lugano is making good progress on his muscle strain and is likely to be fit in time to take the field against the Germans. Atletico Madrid striker Forlan is however an injury doubt for this clash.

Germany failed to avenge their Euro 2008 defeat as they went down 1-0 to Spain in Durban. Barcelona defender Carles Puyol scored the only goal of the game in the second half, nodding home unmarked a Xavi corner.

Spain’s passing did not allow the young German side to play their swift counter attacking game that had torn both England and Argentina to shreds. Miroslav Klose cut a lonely figure upfront and apart from a chance each for Ozil and Kroos, the Germans really did not threaten Casillas in the Spanish goal. Young Bayern star Thomas Muller should take his place on the right wing after sitting out the game against Spain.
